Patrizia Novello

Unexpected

from Saturday 4 May 2019

Patrizia Novello's research is part of the trend of verbal-visual experiments that have developed in Italy since the 1960s. In his production, however, the word does not assume the character of self-referentiality due to the progressive subtraction of meaning, but retains that narrative suggestion that allows the artist to engage in dialogue with the viewer. The exhibition is divided into three pictorial series - "Cards", "The white distance" and "Unexpected" - characterized by the vibrant depth of the backgrounds, the unconventional use of typewriting (manually magnified with the brush) and the constant presence of autobiographical references.
