Nemo as the captain of "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea", who fought battles against war and the injustices of the world from the depths of the abyss. Nemo as the main character of one of the first Winsor McKay comics, in which the nightmares of this boy are told, who every night lives the incredible adventures of a fantastic kingdom called Slumberland. Nemo as the Latin "nobody" which the Saxon genitive changes to "of nobody".
Raised in deep Lombardy, between boundless plains and oppressive fog, he began painting on the street and in abandoned places in 2005.
Immediately demonstrates a marked attention to social issues, especially ecology, with an immediacy and a communicative ruthlessness capable of provoking strong reactions. The attention to the context in which it intervenes is not only content; from a technical point of view it is characterized by the ability to mold the figure to the architectural elements and to the observer's point of view. Stylistically, Nemo's research moves between illustration and painting based on the situation in which it acts: refined and narrative where the subject must be the protagonist (as on the Labas facade in Bologna), gestural and brutal in contexts where it is necessary to be ruthless (such as on the Palermo seafront, between garbage and unauthorized building).
Since 2012 he has participated in the most prestigious international urban art festivals, while in 2014 he begins to operate in extreme situations such as the Zen2 district of Palermo, in Ostia Scalo (the most difficult part of the Roman suburbs) or in the Librino district of Catania, where the the possibility of painting depends on the ability to relate not only with the infrastructures but above all with those who live in the area.
Non-commissioned actions therefore, to which he alternates institutional projects in critical situations such as prisons.
And it is this work, little known but very complex, in which painting, action, contents and attitudes come together in a unicum, that Nemo's presents to the public of Vicolo Folletto.
